Pregnancy comes with loads of memmories. The most important stage is the postpartum where in a female is physically stressed. Its our mom (or I should rather say grand mother) who comes into picture by supporting us in all possible aspects. One such support is given in the form of post partum food. Though I was served with varieties of postpartum food, one such recipe which I would cherish always is the Angaya Podi with ghee rice.

Today’s recipe can be prepared for post natal diet and diabetic friendly diet as well. Here is my first one namely “Vepampoo Thogaiyal or Neem flower Chutney”

Navarathri just got over and I had a huge bunch of Betel leaves left out. Even if we consume 2 or 3  leaves a day, I am sure we cannot finish them on time and it would spoil. With the left out Betel leaves, I generally make a thogayal (chuntney) which can stay upto 3 or 4 days. If it is cooked with more oil, then it would for stay more than a week. Today’s post is about Vetrillai thogaiyal (Betel Leaves chutney or Paan Chutney). Betel leaves are fried & blended to a nice paste along with small onions, green chilli , tamarind , garlic and other spices & condiments.

With Navarathri coming to an end, its time to clear our refrigerator with some items which are not got regularly. One such item is  beetal leaves. I have a huge bunch and I really don’t know what I should do. Similarly I purchased tulsi (Holy basil) for preparing the tulsi and cardamom water and I am left with a huge bunch in that also. Today’s post is about Tulsi & Beetal Leaves rasam which is a mix of tulsi, beetal leaves, pepper, carom seeds & Jeera seeds.

Kandathipli Rasam

Kandathipli Rasam

When we landed Chennai we were bit tired of journey and got cold. So my mom decided to cook kandathipli rasam which is known for curing body aches. It is also known for curing cough & cold. Arisi thipli is another herb which is used in this rasam which is used for curing cough & cold and it generates body heat hence must be used in minimum quantity.
